Nashville's midtown is located in the large area between Charlotte Avenue, 12th Avenue, and I-440. It encompasses some of the vibrant places to live and work and play in Nashville, including Music Row (16th Avenue), West End, Vanderbilt and Belmont Universities, and Hillsboro Village, andt the 12th South District.

A mix of students and young professionals give Midtown its vibrant energy. Eclectic shops, eateries, and bars give the areas of midtown their distinctive flavors.

In the area around West End, there are several new condo developments that have been popping up: Midtown Lofts, Bristol West End, Park West Court, the Maxwell, The Artie Lee, The Jacksonian, the Artesia. The West End Condos is a new development of high end units, many of which were auctioned at steep discounts.

Taking Murphy Road from West End leads into Sylvan Park, where bungelows and cottages have been lovingly renovated to their former glory. After looking at houses, stop in at McCabe's Pub for a burger and a pint.

In the Music Row area, you will find some great condo developments, such as Bristol on Broadway, 1010 on the Row, 1101 Eighteenth. With its host of amenities and luxury appointments, the Adelicia managed to sell out even in a tough market. The Rhythm at Music Row is a new condo high rise with amazing views of downtown.

Heading south on 21st Avenue goes through Hillsboro Village, home of the Belcourt Theatre and Fido's Coffee Shop, as well as developments such as Acklen Row and the Enclave.

12th Avenue South is an up and coming, transitional part of town. With one of a kind shops like Katy K's Ranch Dressing (clothing), and Mirror and Mafiaoza's (restaurants), this up and coming area will continue to be an interesting addition to Nashville The Gulch is also considered to be in midtown, although I have listed it as a seperate community.
