Would you like to be a modern-day prophet, but you’re missing a compelling apocalyptic vision? Do you have an overwhelming calling to command people to repent, only you don’t have a menacing calamity to hold over their heads?

Why wait on divine revelation that can take a lifetime, or longer? By simply looking at the recent past, it’s not difficult to make predictions that sound dramatic, and yet, have a high probability of becoming reality. So, without further ado, here are five bold prognostications you are free to use to launch your career as a prophet.

5 PROPHECIES FOR RIGHT NOW

1. Political Chaos. When you elect a President who defies the judicial branch, mocks journalists, and subverts the democratic process, you’re signing up for a bumpy ride. If election conspiracies and a failed coup were last season’s cliffhangers, it’s safe to assume a blockbuster of a Constitutional crisis or two is waiting in the wings.

2. Minority Intimidation. This one is right out of the authoritarian Presidential playbook. (It’s also a violation of any moral code – making it on point for an ethical prophesy.) As their name implies, “minorities” are small – usually too small to fight back… At the same time, they still need to be perceived as a dangerous threat to society (i.e. illegal immigrants, transgender athletes). Of course, minority intimidation is already all the rage (as is foreseen in The Two Prophets), but that doesn’t mean this administration won’t up the ante and go after its own citizens – or anyone deemed a “political enemy.”

3. Wars and Rumors of War. Sometimes bullying a segment of society isn’t enough to distract the masses from sex scandals or high gas prices. A bigger boogie man is needed, like an evil dictator or a rouge country. We’ve already seen bombs drop and bullets fly from afar. If we’re not careful, it would be easy to see a conflict spin out of control – perhaps even blowing back to our own shores.

4. Homegrown Violence. What happens when you give angry kids (who have grown up with shooter games and conspiracy theories), access to weapons that fire 500 rounds a minute? It’s safe to assume there will be a tragic mass shooting and/or a horrific hate crime, followed by another, and another….

5. Fires and Floods. Natural disasters are the prophet’s best friend, and with the earth and sea heating up at an alarming rate, fires and flooding are now annual events. Your only challenge will be choosing between tornados, hurricanes, wildfires, and/or earthquakes. Tip: Diversify your bets among an array of calamities and you can’t lose.

A true prophet takes no pleasure in delivering messages of death and destruction. They also pay a personal price for being the bearer of bad news. Even so, they still feel compelled to speak out when they witness oppression and injustice.

We are in desperate need of prophets and truth-tellers today. The good news is you don’t need to hear the audible word of God to speak truth to power – or behold visions to be a beacon unto the world. So, raise up your voices and let your lights shine.
